Justin Powell was born in the small northern town of Kapuskasing Ontario on Oct 26,1982. His Father Being in the martial arts most of his life began to train his son Justin at the age of 3 months old by exercising his limbs by making the motions of the fundamental blocks thus beginning Justin's long time career and enjoyment in the arts. Originally Justin began to learn four styles of Korean martial arts under his fathers tutoring. Beginning with International Tae Kwon Do patterns, followed by World Tae Kwon Do patterns( Tae Guek Series and Pal Gwe sets) as well as Tang Soo Do a form of Korean Karate. At Age 4 Justin Moved to Sturgeon Falls Ontario. By Age Twelve Justin Received his First Degree Black Belt in the Adult testing category Specializing in the category of Traditional Tae Kwon Do.  In the tradition of Powell's Personal Combat System Justin Continued to train and study his art and develop it as well as cross training in various styles such as Iron Palm, Golden Bell, Kung Fu, Tai Chi, Karate Do, Hojo Undo, Kobudo, Sword, Various Chinese and Korean Lance/Spear Tactics, European style martial arts and weaponry as well as archery, horse back riding, bush survival and stealth skills. Being home schooled most of his life by his mother allowed him to exercise his love for these arts as gym or fitness class as well as explore Hatha Yoga and Body Building as extra activities. At Age 18 Justin Opened his first dojang(Korean for martial arts school) with a small loan his parents helped him with.  This is when Justin Officially took over the original school name from his father and ran Powell's Martial Arts Academy.During this time Justin encountered many martial arts masters and exchanged knowledge and patterns/kata. He was also by his father's request to be tutored by an acupuncturist and fellow martial artist Heon Soo Kim which Tae Kwon Do and some Tae Kyon skills were exchanged. Justin also had an encounter with an elderly lady, whom at the time was 87 years old at the local park where he discussed and trained Yang Tai Chi.(Yang Cheng Fu Lineage) It had turned out she had been practicing for many years in main land China on the plat forms where it is popularly taught and practiced. After Successfully operating his school for  5 years Justin decided to close it down to teach privately and be more selective of his students to create better quality in the training by keeping the classes to small groups of 4 to 5 people at the most who are worthy and dedicated. In 2005 Justin Received the rank of 8th Dan Traditional Tae Kwon Do, Powell's Personal Combat System and continues to date to teach as well function as Vice President to Central Canada Martial Arts Association. With much thanks and appreciation in 2014 Justin received  DOJO membership and Genin (First Dan) in Ninjitsu by notable  Grand Master and Author Ashida Kim as well as accepted as a Black Dragon Fighting Society Member along with his father. Justin Powell is a proud member of the ITF HQ Korea.
